Description
Serum bilirubin is a yellow pigment produced during the breakdown of red blood cells in the liver. It is then excreted from the body through bile. The serum bilirubin test measures the level of bilirubin in the blood and helps diagnose and monitor conditions affecting the liver, gallbladder, and bile ducts.
