Description
CK-MB is an enzyme found primarily in the heart muscle, and its levels are measured to assess heart health. The CK-MB test is specifically used to detect damage to the heart muscle and is particularly valuable in diagnosing heart attacks (myocardial infarctions). This enzyme is one of three types of creatine kinase enzymes, the others being CK-MM (found in skeletal muscles) and CK-BB (found in the brain).
