Description
Ascitic fluid culture and sensitivity (C/S) is a diagnostic test performed to identify bacterial, fungal, or other pathogenic organisms present in the ascitic fluid, as well as to determine the appropriate antimicrobial therapy. Ascitic fluid is the fluid that accumulates in the peritoneal cavity, often due to conditions such as liver cirrhosis, malignancies, heart failure, or infections like spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP).
