Description
The HIV Screening Test is a diagnostic tool used to detect the presence of HIV antibodies or antigens in blood, saliva, or other body fluids. It is typically the first step in identifying HIV infection.
Types of Screening Tests:
- Rapid HIV Test: Provides results within 20–30 minutes using a small blood sample or oral fluid.
- ELISA/Antigen-Antibody Test: Detects both HIV antibodies and the p24 antigen, which appears early in infection.
