Description
Blood Urea: Blood urea is a measure of the amount of urea nitrogen in the blood. Urea is a waste product formed in the liver when proteins are broken down and is normally excreted by the kidneys in urine. The blood urea level is used to assess kidney function and can help diagnose kidney disease or dehydration. Elevated blood urea levels may indicate impaired kidney function, while lower levels might suggest liver disease or malnutrition. This test is often part of a basic metabolic panel (BMP) or comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP).
